Village Safari by Jeep

Your visit to Jodhpur should include a Jeep Safari to the local villages nearby. You get a chance to visit the traditional village folk in their habitat and interacct with them. See them doing their daily chores. Village life in this region consists of livestock rearing and some subsistence farming which is totally dependent on the annual monsoons.

This tour usually starts in the morning. Your english speaking guide will come and pick you up from the hotel after an early breakfast. Your trip to the local villages takes you through the backroads and you get an opportunity to sample the local wildlife like chinkara, blackbuck and the Neelgai (Indian Antelope). During the winter months the migratory birds are also visiting so if you are an avid orinthologist you may like to carry your binoculars. You would get a sampling of the local birdlife.

Visit to the local villages would comprise of visit to the various local communities like the potters, weavers, carpentars and other local artisans. A visit to the Bishoi Community village is a must. The Bishnoi community hold the environment sacred. They follow the teachings of 'Pabuji' who taught them to care for and protect the environment they live in.
